Supporting the Badger Battalion

How Your Gift Is Used

Your donations bond the Badger Battalion past, present, and future!  Your donation may be unrestricted to support Badger Battalion events such as the Spring Ball or Invitational Drill Meet, alumni/Battalion social mixers, or association’s operating expenses -or- restricted to fund Midshipmen awards.  The Association administers both Association awards and Sponsored awards that have an annual pledge or a donation allowing perpetuity.  Donations provided are charitable deductions under IRS 501 (3)(c).

Each year we support the Badger Battalion with awards, books at commissioning, guest speakers, and several social mixers. Your gift makes a difference!

Our Fundraising Chair, Paul Gilmartin, CAPT, USN (Ret.), Class of 1990, can discuss options with you.
He can be reached at swocapt@gmail.com.

  • Bequests

Give your gift as a bequest.  In your estate planning documents consider adding a gift to the UW NROTC Alumni Association.

  • Donations from IRA

If you must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to the Alumni Association will count toward your RMD and be excluded from your taxable income.

  • Publicy Traded Securities

We can accept your gift of securities giving a favorable tax advantage in accordance with IRS regulations.  We can coordinate between your broker, our administrator, the Office of Trust Funds at UW-System under the direction of the Board of Regents (BOR) of the University of Wisconsin System.

Your annual donation to support the Badger Battalion and connect us past, present, and future is much appreciated.

Why I Give -
The “Arnold Family”, sisters and nephew, support the
Commander William T. Arnold Award

“It is a privilege to help, in a small way, to give some financial assistance to a worthy midshipman, who is willing to serve his or her country.”

The William T. Arnold award was established more than 20 years ago by Bill and Lois Arnold as a memorial to their son Commander William T. Arnold, Class of 1963, after his loss as a naval pilot in the Vietnam war.
