Born and raised in Madison, WI. Graduate of Edgewood High School Attended UW-Madison. UW NROTC—commissioned Ensign, USNR, August 1964. Attended Navy Nuclear Power School and Prototype training. MPA on USS ARNOLD J ISBELL (DD-869), OODF. Assistant A Division Officer on USS ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65), Propulsion Plant Watch Officer, Engineering Officer of the Watch. Surface Warfare Qualified. NROTC instructor at Marquette University. Graduate student at Marquette University. Business faculty UW-Platteville.

Recalled to active duty as Head, NROTC Professional Development, Naval Education and Training Command. Designated a Master Training Specialist. UW NROTC XO and 1/c Instructor/Advisor. Subsequently became faculty member, Management Department, UW-Whitewater—retired as Professor of Management Emeritus and as Commander USNR.
