Dennis A. Dogs

Dennis A. Dogs was a native of Appleton.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and was commissioned in the United States Marine Corps through the Naval ROTC program in May 1985.  Following The Basic School, he qualified as a naval aviator and in the CH-46 Sea Knight.  In twelve years of active duty, Dennis completed tours with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 163, including deployment to Southwest Asia for Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm, 1st ANGLICO, and Headquarters Marine Corps as the rotary-wing monitor.  On May 10, 1997, while serving with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 164, Dennis was killed in the crash at sea of his CH-46 during MEU pre-deployment exercises off the coast of Southern California.  The Badger Marine Memorial Association was originally founded to honor his memory.
