Badger Statue to Remain!

Thanks to the recent efforts of U.S. Representative Mike Gallagher and Governor Tony Evers, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro extended by 50 years the period of time the statue will be loaned to the State of Wisconsin. The statue had been lent to the state by the U.S. Naval Academy Museum in 1988 and sat outside the governor’s office in the state Capitol since 1989. A few years ago the museum contacted the state and proposed the statue be returned so that it could be moved to the Nauticus Museum in Norfolk, VA. Representative Gallagher and Governor Evers actions and the support of the Secretary of the Navy have ensured the statue will remain in Madison at least to 2072! For more information see the story.
